I wish all the photoshoots could end in a sweet proposal like this one. I met Randi and Dylan in California a few short weeks ago while photographing Austin + Matt's wedding. Dylan pulled me aside during the wedding reception and asked about possibly photographing his proposal in the coming weeks. We talked a little bit about their relationship and how long they had been together. Dylan told me he's had the ring for a while but just hadn't found the right time to propose. So when we got back to Joplin, we got together to scout a location for a quick photoshoot with the plan being for him to propose at the end. I just love the look on Randi's face at the end. This photoshoot/proposal was so much fun:) Here's a few of our favorite frames from this 'shoot. Enjoy! 

Maranda and Brayden got married this April 2018 at The Silver Spoon Barn in Webb City, Missouri. We started out this day checking out this cool barn since we hadn't worked the venue before. As barns go, this one is pretty dang fabulous. Immaculate wood work and construction on the interior made this place a gorgeous setting for a spring wedding. We got to spend a little time hanging out with the bride and groom and their wedding party as they finished up their process of getting ready, and then met for the first look in the aisle that they would soon be walking down as husband and wife. Watching the two of them see each other for the first time was so sweet! The anticipation and emotion of such a huge wedding day moment really comes through in these photos. Though it was a tad on the cold side, we headed outdoors for a quick portrait session. Then it was time for a quick wedding ceremony, and then off to the reception where the newlyweds grabbed a quick bite, fed each other some cake, and danced the night away with their closest friends and family! Austin and Matt got married in the Redwood Forest of Northern California this April, and there are not enough good words to say about this couple and the few days I got to spend with them and their family. I started this trip off with a flight to Eugene, Oregon. From there I drove down the coast to Crescent City, California where I met up with the happy couple and their family the night before the wedding. From the moment I arrived in the Pacific Northwest, I knew this wedding was going to be pure magic. Beauty surrounds you at every single turn. The day of the wedding, we started off by exploring some of the coastal areas around Crescent City, and arrived back to the hotel where the bride & groom were prepping for the coming nuptials. Once they were ready, Austin and Matt met on the beach for their first look. You could see and feel the excitement and emotion with each one of them when they saw each other for the first time. Matt mentioned how he was more nervous than expected and Austin told Matt that he needed to 'fix his pants'. Memories that won't soon be forgotten I'm sure. We headed from the beach straight into the forest to see the sweethearts say 'I do'. The spot that Austin and Matt picked out for their wedding was absolutely breath taking. It was a spot way out in the woods, totally secluded from the outside world. We hung around afterwards for some portraits as the sun beamed in through the Redwoods. We finished up on the beach for a few more shots at sunset, and then headed back into Crescent City to Seaquake Brewery to finish the day with some music, dancing, and libations. I met these two sweethearts in downtown Neosho for their engagement session. Here are a few of my favorites :) Enjoy! 

Stacy and Aaron got married January 2018 at the Booth Hotel in downtown Independence, Kansas. 

We absolutely love this location that they chose for their wedding, so we set out early on this wedding day from Missouri to Kansas, and made sure to capture all the historic details this venue has to offer. After seeing all the fabulous tile work and details that went throughout the first floor of the hotel (that we would later use for portraits), I was feeling pretty great when I met Stacy for some portraits of her finishing up her hair and makeup. 

After a first look with Stacy's Dad and Grandpa, we headed out to explore some of the back alleys and streets around the hotel. We didn't feel too bad for making the bride trek the downtown streets with us, as she skipped the high heels for some sweet teal converse low-tops! So smart! We snapped as many portraits as we could with the bridal party while we still had the light to work with, and then headed inside to start the pre-wedding touch ups. Early sundown times mean we're usually running right up against the end of daylight for portraits but it always ensures we're working with the most flattering light, which we love :) 

The buzz of friends and family arriving meant that it would soon be time for Aaron to see his beautiful bride for the first time! I could tell by the look on Aaron's face and the emotion he displayed that this was most definitely one of the best moments of his life! 

After the vows had been said, we broke out the flashes, and took the bride and groom and wedding party around the first floor of the hotel and down a couple city streets for some portraits. 

Stacy and Aaron, we had such an amazing time getting to spend the day with you and photograph your wedding! We are wishing you and your growing family many years of love and happiness!

Vera and Doug were our first November wedding this year at the Roxy and Amelie Event Center in Downtown Joplin. 

Today seems like just about as good of a day as any to share one of our favorite fall weddings ever! This day just felt flawless in every way. From hair and makeup to the venue, to the ceremony and reception, it was all a dream! The moody afternoon light created by a light sort of mist that hovered over us all day gave us that magic light we're always looking for as photographers. These two put so much thought and effort into creating a fun and memorable experience for their friends and family.  Every detail from the decorations, food and drink, down to the wedding program was thought over meticulously and it showed. The ceremony took place in an intimate setting at the Roxy in front of about 150 of their closest friends and family. After the ceremony, the newlywed's guests hung out socializing, having cocktails, and striking poses in The Shutter Bus while we got our wedding portrait session on. 

Vera and Doug's love story all got started on Tinder! After a few dates, they were engaged and the rest, as they say, is history! We just love that these two found each other. They are delightfully complimentary to each other, and love to laugh and have fun, which made our job as their photographers so easy! We are loving these two and the way their album is taking shape!

Kelsey and Craig got married this October 2017 in Downtown Joplin, Missouri at the Amelie Event Center.

We were on hand to capture this magical day through photo, video, & photo booth, so we definitely had our hands full, but this sweet couple made it so easy on us! Kelsey was stunning in her white wedding dress, and Craig looked absolutely dapper in his navy suit! 

Craig & Kelsey met online through a dating app. Kelsey had all but written off romance when Craig came along, so Craig had to be extra persistent to steal her attention :) Craig says that seeing her in pictures he thought she was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen! They got snowed in on their first date after Craig drove over an hour to see her in person for the first time, and the rest is history!

We explored the woods of southwest Missouri with Travis and Kasey for their fall engagement photoshoot! Travis is an old college buddy of mine so it was quite a treat getting to see and catch up with him after all these years, and of course meet his lovely fiancé Kasey, who I called Kelsey a few times on account of all our recent brides named Kelsey...but that's neither here nor there:)

We headed up to Kansas City for Miranda & Bart's Engagement Session. We all took in a sweet sunset out at The Bowery in Spring Hill! We love it when we get to photograph our friends. These two are soooo sweet and we can't wait for the wedding:)

Kelsey+Laramie got married  this October at the Grand Lake Baptist Assembly in Grove, Oklahoma. 

The look on Laramie's face when he saw Kelsey for the first time coming down the aisle with her father was just priceless! She looked absolutely stunning in her wedding dress. The couple gathered in the huge assembly hall surrounded by their friends and family all seated at tables around them. After the wedding, we wandered the property with the sweet newlyweds exploring some covered wooded areas and various favorable lighting situations. These two absolutely rocked their portrait session and we are loving every frame. After the bride and groom's portrait session at sunset, we came back inside for the reception, which was complete with endearing speeches from the maid of honor and best man, and an insanely hilarious choreographed first dance with the bride and father of the bride. This day was magic and special in every way and we are so glad we got to be a part of it. Huge congrats to Kelsey and Laramie!

Brooke+Kevin got married this October at Amadeus Ranch in Seneca, Missouri. 

This wedding was 'all the things' we love about capturing people on one of the happiest days of their lives and so much more.  Everything (starting with the Bride and Groom) was super relaxed, happy, and full of love as these two started on their beautiful journey together as husband and wife. It really was a pleasure to capture these two and just sort of felt like we were hanging out with old friends. We absolutely loved that they got their kiddos involved by having them be the wedding party! Just to see the amount of love they have for their parents and to watch them have so much fun as the day unfolds. 

The bride and groom could not have chosen a more perfect venue! We have shot here plenty of times, but it just never gets old. We can't say enough nice things about Amadeus Ranch! From the sweeping hills, to immaculate construction, to the most favorable of indoor lighting conditions, we love it all. The personal highlight for me was Brooke and Kevin's first dance out underneath the stars and overhead lights, surrounded by their friends and family, as their happy kiddos looked on eating the s'mores they had just roasted by the fire. The sun had been down for about 30 minutes or so and gave the sky this brilliant color of blue that was simply unforgettable!

Breahna and Steven got married this September at 425 Downtown in Springfield, Missouri. 

We absolutely loved getting to hang with this sweet couple on their wedding day. They picked the perfect venue in just right around the corner from Springfield Brewing Company. Downtown Springfield is rich with history and culture (and photo backdrops), and provided the perfect setting for Breahna+Steven to tie the knot!
