Janelle+Cody | Kansas Wedding

Spring time weddings are in full effect and they are some of my favorite. All of the foliage is starting to come into bloom and we’re starting to get some nice days coming out of winter. We began this beautiful wedding with Janelle and her bridesmaids getting ready at a family home in Frontenac. Janelle was just finishing up hair and makeup as we arrived so we started photographing all of the wedding details to begin the day. Next we met up with Cody and his groomsmen at the Timmons Chapel on Pittsburg State’s campus. After a few getting ready shots with the guys, Janelle had arrived for the first look with our Bride and Groom. They saw each other for the first time inside the chapel, in a sweet private moment for the two of them, and afterward they were joined by their son in the Chapel for a few family portraits. We then moved outdoors for all of portraits. Here are a few of our favorites….

Brent & Lauren | Table Rock Lake Proposal

Often times throughout the year, I’m editing so much that my focus is to plow through the edits and get them back to clients as quickly as I can. That doesn’t usually leave me with much time to realize how truly perfect an album or photo collection is, until I have time to reflect on it, or in this case stumble back across it years later.

Brent has been one of my best friends for a number of years. He’s the type of guy that would give anyone the shirt off his back. He’s the first one I would talk to if I was going through something in my life and he’s the most likely to call on a random Tuesday to see how I’m doing and catch up or just shoot the breeze for a bit. When he met Lauren and started bringing her around more and more, I think we all knew that they were going to be something special, that this super sweet, beautiful girl with an infectious laugh, and well above average comedic timing was going to be the missing piece to Brent’s puzzle of life. So when he told me his plan for proposing at the Patterson Family Lake House, I wasn’t surprised, and I did not hesitate in wanting to capture the moment for them.

So if we’re being totally honest, Lauren definitely knew something was going on. I don’t know if it was when she was putting on her high heels in Shell Knob, Missouri, or until Brent pulled out his pre-proposal letter, but she was onto him a little bit :) Nevertheless, the moment, the couple, the letter, the lighting, the ring, it couldn’t have been more perfect. After the dock proposal, Brent had planned for all of their friends and family to be back at the lake house to help them celebrate.

I’ve had the great pleasure of watching these two get married, grow as a family, and enter into business with each other and it has been nothing short of amazing to see what they’ve accomplished in such a short time. We could all learn a thing or two from them, and I’m so proud to call them my friends.

Holly+Taylor | Breckenridge, Colorado | Wedding Photographer

Holly and Taylor got married this August 2020 in Breckenridge, Colorado. This sweet couple tied the knot at a Mountain Villa worthy of a magazine cover. They said their vows atop a log bridge above a small stream running through the property that overlooked the mountains. With so much beautiful scenery, it was difficult to even decide where to do portraits, so we explored the tall pines on the property and headed down to the lake shore for sunset. I love the way these love birds decided to have their wedding. Surrounded by a few of their closest friends and family up in the mountains. After the vows, they danced the night away with all their friends, and may or may not have ended up with all of them in the hottub! This day was a total success from start to finish and I am so glad that we got to be a part of it. Congratulations Holly and Taylor. Here are a few of our favorite frames so far…Enjoy!

Lauren+Brent • Proposal

When our good friend Brent told us that he was going to be proposing to his girlfriend Lauren, we were absolutely ecstatic that we get to be on hand to help them celebrate and to capture all the magic through these beautiful photos. Brent put this romantic plan together to propose on his family's lake house dock at Table Rock Lake, and simultaneously pack the lake house with all of Lauren's closest family and friends to surprise her after he popped the question. It does not get any sweeter than this! We had an absolute blast this weekend with these two, cannot say enough good things about the both of them, and cannot wait to celebrate their wedding day in Kansas City next year! Congrats you two!

Jill+Chase / / Wedding / / Pierce City, Missouri / / Photographer

Jill and Chase got married last month at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pierce City, Missouri. I can't tell you the amount of joy it brings me to have another photographer ask me to photograph their wedding. What a tremendous honor! This day began with me flying the drone around and location scouting around the venue. The church was surrounded with beautiful green shade trees, and a creek that flowed through the property, making portraits a dream. Jill+Chase were such a great couple to work with. I love the way she looks at him. One look and you know that they are truly deeply connected and in love. His reaction to seeing her in her dress for the first time during their first look was just something that I'm so happy we were able to capture the raw emotion of that moment in a way that they can re-live over and over again throughout their lives. Here's about 100 or so of our favorite frames from Jill and Chase's wedding day. Enjoy :)

Stacy+Aaron / / Booth Hotel Wedding / / Independence, Kansas / / Photographer

Stacy and Aaron got married January 2018 at the Booth Hotel in downtown Independence, Kansas.

We absolutely love this location that they chose for their wedding, so we set out early on this wedding day from Missouri to Kansas, and made sure to capture all the historic details this venue has to offer. After seeing all the fabulous tile work and details that went throughout the first floor of the hotel (that we would later use for portraits), I was feeling pretty great when I met Stacy for some portraits of her finishing up her hair and makeup.

After a first look with Stacy's Dad and Grandpa, we headed out to explore some of the back alleys and streets around the hotel. We didn't feel too bad for making the bride trek the downtown streets with us, as she skipped the high heels for some sweet teal converse low-tops! So smart! We snapped as many portraits as we could with the bridal party while we still had the light to work with, and then headed inside to start the pre-wedding touch ups. Early sundown times mean we're usually running right up against the end of daylight for portraits but it always ensures we're working with the most flattering light, which we love :)

The buzz of friends and family arriving meant that it would soon be time for Aaron to see his beautiful bride for the first time! I could tell by the look on Aaron's face and the emotion he displayed that this was most definitely one of the best moments of his life!

After the vows had been said, we broke out the flashes, and took the bride and groom and wedding party around the first floor of the hotel and down a couple city streets for some portraits.

Stacy and Aaron, we had such an amazing time getting to spend the day with you and photograph your wedding! We are wishing you and your growing family many years of love and happiness!
