Erica and Cody had their engagement pictures done at Roaring River State Park in Cassville, Missouri. We had to wait and find a break in the rain but everything worked out and I'm absolutely loving the pics of this happy couple! Roaring River provided the perfect backdrop for an engagement shoot and especially since it was the site of where Cody proposed:) Here are just a few of my favorite pics from their engagement sesh'....happy viewing!
We shot Miranda and Kaleb's Engagement Session out at our property at Timber Ridge in Seneca, Missouri. We also got to hear the super sweet story of how Kaleb popped the question in the middle of a parade and brought the whole place to a standstill! So Awesome! We are loving these sweet-hearts engagement pics! Here are just a few of our favorites!

Krystal and Zach tied the knot at this August at the Ramsay, one of Joplin's most historic and popular wedding venues. Here are just a few of our favorites from their wedding day:)
The first time I met and photographed Shannon and Luke was at the West Bottoms in Kansas City. I had such an awesome time that day getting to explore and hang out with the two of them, and I learned pretty quickly that they had a strong love for each other. Fast forward just a few months from their engagement shoot and it's wedding day at the beautiful Mildale Farm. As soon as we arrived, we knew the happy couple had picked a perfect place for a wedding. The grand brick entrance and brick laid road lead us up to the farm and guest houses where we were able to get started with the bride and groom's getting ready pictures. We got a little late start but for the perfect reason. Luke was putting the finishing touches on a sweet wedding day love letter for Shannon! Shannon and Luke were so laid back which made our jobs as their wedding photographers super easy. The happy couple together with a wonderful crew of family and friends celebrated in style on this warm summer day. Photographing weddings in new locations is always fun, and this was no different. We loved getting to photograph at this fab farm for our first time! This turned out to be a dream August wedding. Thank you Shannon and Luke for having us!

1. "His/Her Portfolio is AHHH-MAZING"
Ok, full disclosure...this should be a factor in selecting a wedding photographer. BUT, don't fall in love with the portfolio and abandon your research process of finding the ONE wedding photographer that fits with you for your wedding day! After you're done drooling over all the Pinterest-worthy poses, email the photographer and set up a meeting. During your consult, you will want to request full wedding albums. This is crucial to finding the wedding photographer for you! Don't base your decision solely from the portfolio, but how the photographer approaches the entire day. Lastly, make sure your personalities are a match. You're going to spend more time on your wedding day with your photographer than with your own mother. The last thing you want is to be stuck with someone for 8-10 hours who is driving you nuts on your wedding day!
2. "The Wedding Venue Recommended Them"
Again, full disclosure on this one is that some wedding venues offer excellent recommendations on wedding photographers based on a photographers body of work. BUT, and this is a big one, some wedding venues sell spots to be a preferred wedding photographer with the venue. In this case, your motives for finding a photographer and theirs do not line up! My best advice would be to double check a venues recommendations with friends, family, wedding planners and their online reviews. Better safe than sorry on this one!
3. "They're my Friend (or Family)"
Gosh, I feel like this goes without saying, and I'm going to really try not to rant here. You've probably heard this a 1,000 times in your life....YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR! Maybe it's a cousin who does a little photography on the side, or Nancy from church who has a camera and guess what...THEY'LL PHOTOGRAPH YOUR WEDDING FOR FREE!!! Weddings are expensive, so this might come as music to your frugal ears. Just don't! Weddings are a tough gig, with a lot of variables, and you absolutely, 100% need a professional to handle the in's and outs of your wedding day. Just because your friend takes nice photos of families and sleeping babies, it doesn't mean he/she can light your pitch black reception venue. What happens when your 'friend/family' photog misses that crucial shot because their yucking it up with other wedding guests they know, or they lose your photos because they don't have a file backup system. Bottom line, when you're choosing a wedding photographer, CHOOSE A WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER!
4. "They Shoot 200 Weddings a Year"
Make no mistake, experience is a must, and you don't want your wedding photographer using your wedding for practice, but BUSIER IS NOT ALWAYS BETTER. When it comes to choosing a wedding photographer, you're looking for someone who chooses quality over quantity. If you've found someone shooting over 100+ wedding per year, you've found someone who has sacrificed at least some degree of quality. Being that busy means they are shooting back to back weddings every single weekend and/or hiring associate photographers to fill their shoes. If you hire Jimmy Photog to be your wedding photographer, you should expect Jimmy Photog, not Jimmy Photog's Junior Varsity Squad. Make sure you know who's going to be holding the camera on your wedding day, and that they are committed to treating you like a VIP every step of the way!
5. "This Sale is the Deal of a Lifetime"
Here's the thing, the right photographer can make a budget dress look like it cost $5,000. The wrong photographer can make Vera Wang look tacky. Whether you are on a shoestring budget, or are planning a wedding fit for royalty, there are a lot of places to hunt for deals. Your wedding photographer isn't one of them. Ask anyone who's been burned by their wedding photographer...It is not a bargain if you hate your wedding photos. If your favorite photographer is running a discount, like a free engagement session, or 10% off, then heck-yeah, jump all over that. Just don't let a big discount be your deciding factor. Good wedding photographers invest in expensive equipment, pay taxes, and carry insurance. So before you cut corners with a dirt-cheap photographer, ask yourself where they cut corners to get you that price.

Josie and Will got married at the Barn at Timber Cove in Pittsburg, Kansas on August 6th 2017. As August days go, this one was a dream. The heat died down for a while and we even got a little breeze along with some overcast skies to give us that dreamy light we were looking for! The Bride and Groom were game for anything, and so laid back! It made all the difference in their wedding portraits and we could not be happier with how they came out!
When we first arrived at the Barn at Timber Cove, we first saw the beautiful Bride Josie and captured her putting the finishing touches to her stunning wedding dress, hair, and makeup. Shortly thereafter, Will arrived and we went straight into the first look. The arbor out back of The Barn provided us the perfect setting for the Bride and Groom to see each other for the first time. With the anticipation building, and the fern baskets swaying overhead, Josie took her first steps towards will. With a tap on the shoulder, Will turned to see his Bride. He stood back for a moment, took it all in, and then they met in an emotional embrace, each fighting back the tears. What a wonderful moment to start the day off.
We did a few group shots with the bridesmaids and groomsmen, and the wedding followed soon after . The Barn at Timber Cove is a venue we love to shoot at, and hopefully you can see why in this wedding album! So many opportunities to make some photographic magic.
This was one of the 'dancing-est' groups we have ever had! They sure know how to have a good time. After the wedding the wedding party along with friends and family ate, drank, laughed, and DANCED the night away! It was a really good day for all involved! We hope you enjoy a few of our favorites from Josie and Will's wedding at the Barn at Timber Cove...

July weddings are HOT, and so was this sweet couple! I could tell how much Haylee and Kris loved each other from the moment we met at their engagement 'shoot! When a couple smiles and laughs naturally with each other the way they did, you just know. I think they tried to convince me they were going to be awkward when we first met, but they were anything but. Their engagement pictures were magical and I knew their wedding portfolio would turn out the same way. We had a ball capturing all the perfect moments for this sweet couple on their wedding day! I certainly had a tough time narrowing it down on which ones to edit.
Haylee and Kris tied the knot at the First Christian Church in Baxter Springs, Kansas and finished the day off at the Baxter Springs Country Club just up the road. Surrounded by close friends and family, the happy couple celebrated and danced the night away. The night was complete with awesome dance moves and amazing food catered by Chicken Mary's. The country club provided the perfect backdrop for the Bride and Groom to go out and have a nice little sunset session to close the day out. Here are just a few of our favorites from Haylee and Kris' Wedding Album...Enjoy:)

Jessica + Tyler got married at the beautiful First Christian Church in Columbus, Kansas. The church provided the perfect setting for these two sweet-hearts to say their vows. This wedding was everything you hope for in a summer wedding! As soon as you walk in, you can feel the history in the old wooden pews, stained glass windows, and theatre seating. We were able to capture the essence of that history combined with the beauty of Bride & Groom in their wedding photos. After the wedding, we headed over to Rowdy's Rustic Moose Lodge for some sunset photos, dancing, drinking, socializing, and don't forget the cake! This reception venue was a spectacular spot not only for some great photos, but for the couple to share their first dance, and listen to some of their closest friends and family give them toasts and well wishes that I'm sure these newlyweds will remember for a long time to come. Tyler also had his 1968 Chevy C10 on hand that was recently restored! WOW! We love to take pictures with classic cars and trucks and these love birds only added to its beauty. One thing that shines through in this sweet couple's wedding portraits is that they are truly in love. Just like their engagement shoot, the wedding for these two was magical in every way! Here are just a few of our favorites so far! Enjoy...

Jessica & Shawn got married this June at the Affinity Riverside Estate in Nixa, Missouri. This wedding and venue was extraordinary. From the bride's dress to the guy's suits, the flower arrangements, decorations, a massive multi-level deck overlooking a beautiful arbor where the bride and groom said their vows. On top of all that, this group was ready to smile and take awesome pictures! It didn't hurt that the venue provided us with so many cool spots to photograph our lovely newlyweds and their friends. These two lovely people were so nice and laid back for all of our crazy photo'ing ideas, and such great people just by themselves. I have no doubt their greatness will only multiply now that they have joined forces in marriage. It was such an honor getting to be there and capture all the memories to last a lifetime. Here are just a few of our favorites from Jessica & Shawn's big day...

I spent this evening with these two sweethearts, exploring a little bit of Joplin and taking some engagement photos! There are so many good ones to share, but here are just a few of my favorites so far! More to come! Stay tuned...
I met Paige and Shawn at the Elk City Overlook and hiking trails out at the lake. That location, in combination with a perfect sunset made for an awesome engagement photoshoot! Here are a few of my favorites from their session....
I drove out to Sedalia, Missouri this past weekend to meet up with Amanda and Matt and 'shoot some engagement photos! We shot on their family farm just north of the city. Beautiful countryside landscapes, old barns, and a quarry all lended themselves to this awesome engagement photo session! Can't wait for the wedding and these two sweethearts to be married! Here are a few of my favorites!
Baby Tripp will be 6 months old in two days! What a perfect time for a photoshoot! Devin & Erica invited me over to take some pics in the nursery, and then we took it outdoors for a few! Tripp is styling (as usual) in the red and blue anchor onesie. It's always a good day when you get to spend some time with some of your favorite people! Love this little family! Here are a few of my favorites from today!
Melissa and Justin were married at the fabulous Bullskin Creek, the new wedding venue and event center in Neosho, Missouri. As I was snapping a few getting ready pictures, Justin broke out a bottle of what I believe was home-made Pineapple Upside Down Moonshine! I noticed it was going in circular fashion around the group of groomsmen. As I tried reposition myself in the circle, so as to not be required to drink the moonshine, Justin noticed my evasive maneuvers and promptly advised that I wasn't getting out without taking a sip. Needless to say, I didn't fight it :) These two sweethearts said 'I do' outdoors, and the sun set over the trees just in time for a perfectly lit ceremony. As spring days in the midwest go, this one was perfect. There was no threat of rain or weather, clear skies and a temperature that was just right for a wedding. Both of them were calm and relaxed as we went through the entire day of photo'ing, which made my job so easy! I've been anxiously waiting to get caught up so I could get into their edits and share a few more of my favorites. Enjoy! Don't forget to leave the happy couple a congratulatory comment below!

Kara and Joel said "I do" at the beautiful Catholic Church in the town of St. Paul, Kansas. They recited their vows surrounded by friends and family and alongside their son Masen, and you could definitely feel the love in the room that day! From the moment I arrived, I knew it was going to be such an amazing day for these two sweet-hearts. Both bride and groom each shared an enthusiasm for what was about to take place, which made being their wedding photographer a breeze. After the happy couple saw each other for the first time in the sanctuary of the Church, we headed outside to the church's garden to get some 'posing' in :) The garden was absolutely gorgeous and provided the perfect backdrop for bridesmaids and groomsmen alike. Here are some of my favorites from Kara and Joel's special day.
