Collin and Carlye got married at Greenhouse Two Rivers in Southwest Missouri on June, 3 2023. Collin’s Uncle Darrin gave a beautiful ceremony, and this is what he had to say about love: “...When you are young, you look upon time in hours and days, and you think the days will take forever. As you grow older, you'll start to look at time in months and years, and things start to move more rapidly. At some point, you'll start talking about time in decades, and you'll realize that your time here is not that long, and every moment should be cherished...Today is a celebration of love, commitment, friendship, family, and two people who are in it forever. You don't have to have a wedding ceremony to have a marriage, and when you think about it this whole thing's a little strange. You're standing here in front of all these people, looking fancy. We're holding flowers, and we're being stared at by just about everybody that's ever meant anything to you. So why do we do it? The marriage ceremony has been an important feature across nearly every culture, religion, generation, and society. We have thousands of important moments that happen to us throughout our lives, but this one is regarded so critically that we acknowledge it's special status by sharing it with others. Why this moment? Because despite all of our differences, love is what we all share. It's the great unifier, our one universal truth, that no matter who we are, where we are, where we come from, or what we believe, we know one thing. Love is what we're doing right. That's why both of you are standing here, and that's why all of us are here today to witness this union. We have all had love in our lifetimes, and in a moment we are reminded that the ability to have love is the very best part of our humanity. All of us here today have our own love story. Some are short. Others are long. Some are yet unwritten, while others are just getting to the good part. There are chapters in all of our love stories that are sad or disappointing, and others that are exciting and full of adventure. Carlye and Collin, your love story is just beginning. Take pause and think back to all the moments that brought you here, then look ahead to the moments that are still to come. Love is the experience of writing your own story. It's not one moment. It's not even this moment. It's every moment. The big ones like saying I love you for the first time, or moving in together, or getting engaged. But mostly, it's the millions of little ones that come in between all those big ones. These everyday moments will fuse into a lifetime together that we can describe or experience in different ways. And love can look different from one person to the next, but we all know it when we see it, and we all see it here. A very smart person, a doctor in fact, told me recently that love is more than feelings or actions, it's a choice. You can choose to love each other, even on those days when you don't necessarily like each other. You choose to love each other during sickness, times of sadness, struggle, or hurt. It's that choice, that trust and commitment that will continue to grow your love for one another..."
